Papule
A primary morphology
Definition:
Palpation: Palpable. You can feel it with your finger. Memory tip: a papule is palpable.
It may be raised or depressed, but if you can feel a difference from normal skin and it's less than 1cm it is a papule
Size: less than 1 cm
General Explanation for a Papule
there may be an increase in thickness of the epidermis and/or dermis
conversely, the epidermis or dermis may be atrophic (thin) if the papule is depressed
Examples:
Seborrheic keratosis = benign brown or flesh-coloured warty, stuck on growths acquired with age
Verruca vulgaris = warts
Compound or intradermal nevus = mole
